This is a list of the 100 verified oldest women, arranged in descending order, based on each individual's age in year and days. A "year" typically refers to a calendar year, the time between two dates with the same name. However, years may be of different lengths due to the presence or absence of a leap day within the year, or to the conversion of dates from one calendar to another. A supercentenarian is considered 'verified' if his or her claim has been validated by an international body that specifically deals in longevity research, such as the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). The oldest verified woman ever was French Jeanne Calment, (1875-1997) who is also the oldest verified person ever and who died at the age of 122 years, 164 days.
